How to Play Spear in Albion Online

"Spears are the masters of kiting and mid-range melee combat. By building up "Spirit Spear" charges, they gain increased auto-attack range and damage, allowing them to poke down enemies while staying just out of reach. It is a high-skill-cap weapon line that rewards perfect spacing and reactive play."

💡

Gameplay Tips

  • 1

Always keep 3 stacks of Spirit Spear before engaging with your E.

  • 2

Use Inner Focus (W) to gain a massive speed and damage buff to close gaps or kite.

  • 3

The 1h Spear E is a versatile tool for both engage and escape.

  • 4

Don't forget your auto-attacks! They are a huge portion of your damage.

Best Armor Pairings

Assassin Jacket

For resets and safety when kiting.

Hunter Hood

To punish enemies who try to trade with you.

Torch

Essential for the attack speed and cooldown reduction.

Weapon Variants

1h Spear

1v1 Kiting King

The E (Reckless Charge) is both a dash and an interrupt. You use it to poke, disengage, or dodge enemy abilities. It requires perfect spacing but is almost unkillable in a 1v1.

Heron Spear

Medium Scale CC

Allows you to throw the spear (Spear Throw) to stun enemies at range. It deals solid damage and provides great utility for 2v2 to 5v5 groups.

Spirithunter

ZvZ Armor Shred

Throws a harpoon that pulls enemies towards you and leaves a massive acid trail that shreds enemy armor. Mandatory in Zerg vs Zerg groups to maximize the damage of the artillery mages.

Trinity Spear

5v5 Auto-Attack Buff

Jumps into the air and creates a massive zone that roots enemies and massively buffs the attack speed of allies inside it. A staple for auto-attack centered dive comps.

Recommended Passives

Life Leech

Heals you for a portion of damage dealt by normal attacks. Since Spears auto-attack constantly between spells, this provides absurdly high sustain in 1v1 fights.

Attack Speed

Increases attack speed after spell casts. Great for applying more pressure when your Spirit Spear charges are fully stacked.

Detailed Combos & Tactics

The Flawless Kite (1h Spear)

1

Spam Lunging Strike (Q) to build 3 Spirit Spear charges, staying just at the tip of your range.

2

Weave auto-attacks between every Q.

3

If the enemy uses a dash (like an Axe E), immediately use Reckless Charge (E) to dash THROUGH them, dodging the damage and knocking them up.

4

Pop Inner Focus (W) to gain massive movement speed and heal back up.

The Spirithunter Catch

1

Wait for the shotcaller to call a target that is slightly out of position.

2

Throw Corrupting Magic (E) to harpoon them, dealing damage and applying the armor shred.

3

Immediately follow up with Forest of Spears (W) to continue dealing massive AoE damage to the trapped target while your team finishes them off.
