How to Play Hammer in Albion Online

"Hammers focus on massive impact and long-duration crowd control. While Maces are often more versatile, Hammers excel at locking down specific targets for extremely long periods or providing the "hard" engage that decides a fight in seconds. The Great Hammer and Tombhammer are legendary in the Mists and small-scale PvP."

Gameplay Tips

  • 1

The "Tackle" (Great Hammer E) can travel through walls and obstacles; use this for surprise engages.

  • 2

Use Grasp of the Undead (Tombhammer E) to pull kiting enemies back into your team.

  • 3

Pair your stuns with your team's burst for guaranteed kills.

  • 4

Be careful of being kited after you use your mobility E.

Best Armor Pairings

Caerleon Cape

To reset your Q ability for more sustained CC.

Weapon Variants

Great Hammer

Catch & Dive Comps

The E (Tackle) dashes a massive distance, ignoring CC and even travelling through Wind Walls. It stuns everything in its path, making it the best weapon to catch fleeing targets.

Tombhammer

1v1 & Small Scale Picks

Fires a ranged hand from the ground (Grasp of the Undead) that stuns and damages. Hitting it requires skill, but it deals surprisingly high damage for a tank weapon.

Forge Hammers

Bruiser / Brawler

A unique dual-wielding tank weapon. The E turns you into a giant, boosting your armor and causing all your auto-attacks to heavily slow enemies. Great for brawling in the Mists.

Grovekeeper

ZvZ Area Denial

Jumps into the air and slams the ground with an enormous AoE stun. This is the gold standard for defensive tanking in large scale fights to stop an enemy push dead in its tracks.

Recommended Passives

Stunning Strike

Stuns the enemy every few normal attacks. Similar to the Mace, this is fantastic for stacking CC on a single target.

Power Geyser

Every 4 normal attacks restores energy. Very helpful if you are using mana-intensive W abilities consistently.

Detailed Combos & Tactics

The Escapist Catcher (Great Hammer)

1

Equip the Heavy Cleave (W) ability.

2

Use Tackle (E) to rapidly close the gap and stun the fleeing enemy.

3

Position yourself slightly ahead of them and start channeling Heavy Cleave (W) right as the stun ends to drop massive burst damage.

The Mists Brawler (Forge Hammers)

1

Activate your Giant Steps (E) when the enemy commits to the fight.

2

Continuously auto-attack them to keep them permanently slowed.

3

Use Knockback (W) if they try to use a major defensive or cast a big damage spell to interrupt them and create space.
