How to Play Bow in Albion Online

"The Bow is the classic sustained ranged physical damage dealer in Albion Online. It rewards players with strong mechanical spacing and kiting abilities. Different bows serve different purposes—from the machine-gun style of the regular Bow to the massive AoE burst of the Wailing Bow in ZvZ."

⚖️

Pros and Cons

Advantages

  • Incredible sustained single-target damage
  • High mobility when paired with certain W skills
  • Excellent at melting frontline tanks (with Ray of Light/Explosive Arrows)
  • Very strong in 1v1 and 5v5 scenarios

Disadvantages

  • Easily countered by Purges (Mage Robe, Helm of Judgment)
  • Struggles against sustained reflect damage (Hunter Retaliate)
  • Squishy base stats
  • Requires constant stutter-stepping
💡

Gameplay Tips

  • 1

Stutter-step (orb walk) between every auto-attack to maintain distance while dealing damage.

  • 2

Watch out for purges! If an enemy pops a Mage Robe, stop attacking or switch targets immediately.

  • 3

Use Frost Shot (W) to create sudden gaps when an enemy uses their mobility skill to engage.

  • 4

Always pre-stack your Enchanted Quiver (E) before the hard engage begins.

Best Armor Pairings

Mercenary Jacket

For massive self-healing during your rapid-fire E window.

Hunter Hood

For the reflect shield in 1v1 trades.

Thetford Cape

Adds extra chain lightning damage to your rapid attacks.

Weapon Variants

Bow (Normal)

1v1 & Small Scale Sustained DPS

The standard Bow turns you into a machine gun. By activating Enchanted Quiver (E), your attack speed and damage ramp up significantly with each consecutive hit. Excels at melting down bruisers who try to trade blows with you.

Warbow

Solo Roaming & Ganking

Completely different from the normal Bow, the Warbow relies on its E (Magic Arrow) which deals massive damage the further it travels. It is the ultimate hit-and-run sniper weapon, perfect for open-world poking and escaping.

Bow of Badon

Corrupted Dungeons & Interrupts

Shoots a storm cloud (E) that ticks damage rapidly and interrupts spell casting on every tick. This makes it an absolute nightmare for cloth mages (Fire/Frost/Holy) to fight against, as they cannot cast anything while standing inside it.

Wailing Bow

ZvZ Piercing Damage

Fires a gigantic demonic arrow (Demon Arrow) that deals MORE damage the more enemies it passes through. A perfectly lined up Wailing Bow shot down a narrow terrain choke can wipe an entire backline in one hit.

Recommended Passives

Slow Poison

Your normal attacks reduce enemy movement speed by a scaling amount. This is the ABSOLUTE mandatory passive for 90% of PvP Bow builds, as it guarantees nobody can escape your auto-attack range once you start shooting.

Piercing Arrows

Each normal attack reduces enemy armor. Incredible for PvE bosses, but less useful than Slow Poison in PvP.

Aggressive Rush

Increases your damage after every 4 spell casts. Good for highly mobile Warbow builds that spam Q and W instead of auto-attacking.

Detailed Combos & Tactics

The Machine Gun Trade (Normal Bow)

1

Always use your Enchanted Quiver (E) before the fight begins to immediately empower your attacks.

2

Start auto-attacking the enemy. If they are melee and try to step to you, use Frost Shot (W) to leap backward, create distance, and slow them.

3

Pop your Mercenary Jacket (Bloodlust) when your health dips. Because your attack speed is so high, you will instantly heal back to full health.

4

Never stop stutter-stepping (moving slightly between each auto-attack).

The Sniper Kite (Warbow)

1

Use Poison Arrow (Q) to keep a constant DoT on the enemy and prevent them from mounting.

2

Use Ray of Light (W) to root the enemy in place.

3

Immediately turn and run in the opposite direction to maximize the distance gap.

4

Turn and fire Magic Arrow (E) at maximum possible range for the highest damage multiplier.
