How to Play Axe in Albion Online

"Axes are the kings of sustained melee pressure and self-healing in Albion Online. By utilizing the "Bleed" mechanic, axes deal relentless damage over time while keeping themselves alive through high-lifesteal abilities. Whether it's the dueling power of the Battleaxe or the whirlwind destruction of the Greataxe, this weapon line is a favorite for solo and small-scale bruisers."

💡

Gameplay Tips

  • 1

Always maintain 3 stacks of bleeds on your primary target for maximum damage and healing.

  • 2

Use Battleaxe E at 3 stacks of bleeds to get the massive lifesteal burst.

  • 3

Adrenaline Boost (W) is your best tool for sticking to targets or escaping.

  • 4

Don't save your E for too long; the sustain it provides is key to winning long trades.

Weapon Variants

Battleaxe

1v1 & Solo Open World

The king of bruiser sustain. The E (Blood Bandit) throws two axes; the first deals massive damage, and the second heals you based on the amount of bleeding stacks on the target. If played correctly, a Battleaxe player simply cannot be killed by attrition.

Greataxe

PvE Speed Clearing & Ratting

A very simple weapon that spins in a circle (Whirlwind) dealing heavy AoE damage while making you immune to forced movement. Extremely popular for solo players doing dungeons or swooping into a fight to steal kills.

Bear Paws

Open World Ganking & Burst

The premium ganking axe. Its E (Rending Leap) jumps a long distance, dealing true damage and applying a massive bleed that dismounts players instantly. It commands a high price for its unique mobility and burst.

Realmbreaker

5v5 & ZvZ Engage

Throws a massive axe into the ground that not only deals huge damage and interrupts enemies, but permanently reduces their maximum health by 20% for a duration. It is highly valued in large group fights to pave the way for the mages to burst.

Recommended Passives

Deep Cuts

Your attacks inflict bleeds. This is the standard choice for 1v1 and small-scale as it synergizes perfectly with your kit and adds consistent pressure that cannot be purged easily.

Life Leech

Heals you for a portion of the damage done by normal attacks. Great for PvE and specific hyper-sustain 1v1 builds.

Adrenaline Rush

Every 4 spell casts gives you a short movement and damage buff. Excellent for staying glued to kiting targets like bows.

Detailed Combos & Tactics

The Unkillable Brawler (Battleaxe)

1

Constantly spam Rending Strike (Q) on your target to apply three stacks of Rending Bleed.

2

Use Adrenaline Boost (W) to gain movement speed and damage, preventing the enemy from kiting away.

3

When your health drops below 60%, activate your E (Blood Bandit) and throw BOTH axes at the 3-stacked target.

4

The immense lifesteal return will put you back at full health, demoralizing your opponent.

The Dismount Engage (Bear Paws)

1

Activate sprinting boots (like Hunter Shoes) from off-screen.

2

Use Rending Leap (E) directly onto the mounted player to deal heavy true damage and apply max bleeds.

3

Immediately pop Deadly Chop (W) to follow up with massive burst and armor reduction.

4

Spam Q to finish them off while they struggle to run away on foot.
